  • We finished up and TURNED IN the microscope lab doc in google classroom!
  • We then worked on the Body Organ APP OR Amazing Cell.

SCIENCE-
  • TUESDAY---
    • Warm-up- 
    • FIRST, students went to google classroom and watched the videos on parts of a microscope, and labeled a diagram on paper.
    • We read over "Getting to know your microscope" packet and discussed as we went-link to packet HERE
  • We then got into microscope pairs and began working through the labs using a microscope to view things more closely!
  • Go to https://www.google.com/edu/classroom/ and log in
  • Find the assignment titled, "Microscope Labs Student Sheet"
  • Open, then SHARE with your partner's Schoogle account!

  • WEDNESDAY----Make sure to fill out the MUSEUM PARTNER REQUEST GOOGLE FORM delivered via google classroom!! Due by FRIDAY, 10/30!!

  • THURSDAY-- Last day to work on the microscope labs!!

SCIENCE-
  • Warm-up:  Grab a microscope paper and watch the following videos and FILL OUT the microscope paper as you go!!
  • We reviewed the 4 things an organism NEEDS to survive---
    • FOOD
    • SHELTER (helps maintain homeostasis!)
    • WATER
    • AIR/OXYGEN
  • We then connected that to what INPUTS go INTO the cell/body and the OUTPUTS that leave a cell/body----
    • INPUTS- water, oxygen, food
    • OUTPUTS- carbon dioxide, water, waste
  • Lastly, we began working on the T-shirt project- 
    • Requirements
      • FRONT of shirt- drawings of the 3 INPUTS - you can put the words on there
      • BACK of shirt- drawings of the 3 OUTPUTS- you can put the words on there
      • EITHER/BOTH sides can have a catchy/clever phrase if you want!
      • COLOR please!!

  • Warm-up- Go check your school gmail to see what you got on your solubility conclusion!!
  • We then FINISHED our IS SPARKY ALIVE paragraphs in google classroom! TURN IN this doc by the end of class today!!
  • Create this table below IN your notebook-
    • pretend you are on the deserted island/s shown above. 
    • fill in the first column on the left by yourself
    • we then moved around the room to share, listen, and record another's ideas for the center column in the table
    • we then added new ideas to the right side of the table.
  • We then Talked about the 4 things an organism NEEDS to survive-----
    • FOOD

  1. We began working on our Is Sparky Alive or Not paragraph writing.

    • Once students planned their writing, then went to google classroom to write their paragraph finally explaining their claims as to whether or not, Sparky (fire) is ALIVE OR NOT!!!

  2. FYI- today was the last day of QUARTER 1- REPORT CARDS AND CONFERENCES NEXT WEEK!!!
  3. PARENTS- I am looking for a few more parents to help chaperon our field trip on November 4 (Wednesday)!!
    • going to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science
    • leaving SMS at 8:00am
    • Leaving the museum at 2:30pm
    • Returning to SMS by 4:30!!
    • Cost- FREE TO YOU as an adult chaperon!!

1.     We started by finding the mass of our 3 separated substances-salt, sand, and iron.
2.     We then went to google classroom and students completed the SOLUBILITY LAB SELF-REFLECTION google form!
3.     We then looked at our boiling point lab graphs BEFORE we started graphing for the solubility lab!!

FRIDAY-----
4.     We then went to google classroom and pulled up a previous assignment called Sci Conclusion FILL OUT FORM TL
MONDAY-----
5.     Each student then went to google classroom to find the newest assignment called Solubility Lab Conclusion Outline delivered in google classroom !!!!!!!
  • HW- SOL LAB GRAPH & CONCLUSION IN PARAGRAPH FORM DUE THURSDAY, 10/15 !!!!!!

  • After doing the simulations and learning more from the resources posted to the blog yesterday-

  1. rewrite/type/edit your SOLUBILITY LAB google doc to reflect ACCURATE -

      • procedure
      • materials
      • data table 
      • variables
      • Double check all parts of your lab- title, question, background info,
    • Make sure to LOG INTO CLASSROOM and UNSUBMIT!!
    • Then, check the sharing settings by clicking SHARE and reentering your partners names making sure it says CAN EDIT next to their name! Then you are ready to edit/type!
    • ONE PERSON THEN TURN IN your new and improved doc!!!
2. Then, complete the google form Solubility Lab Checklist sent in Google Classroom.

SCIENCE-

  • TUESDAY-
    • We had 1/2 of class to finish BP graphs and conclusions. Make sure to TURN IN your boiling point lab conclusion IN google classroom!
    • We then began working in groups, assigned by me, to create and design a lab to separate a mixture of sand, iron, and salt!
    • 3 versions (circle, square, diamond) have been sent to each student via google classroom
    • in google classroom there is also a helpful link to a video on solubility
  • WEDNESDAY-
    • Please complete the Master Doctopus google form that I delivered to you in google classroom (be sure to type if your school ggl email CORRECTLY!!) THX!
    • Students continued their work on creating a lab to separate a mixture.
  • THURSDAY-
    • Students peer graded, in pairs set up by me, their BP graphs providing an excellent opportunity to reflect on their OWN graphs they made!
    • More work time on the solubility lab plan!!
  • By the END OF CLASS THURSDAY---- You MUST have ONE PERSON TURN IN the assignment in google classroom so I CAN PRINT a hard copy for you and APPROVE YOUR LAB for Friday!!!!!!!!
  • FRIDAY- 
    • Groups will perform their designed solubility labs!!

  • LAB DAY FRIDAY------FRIDAY-----No----hair products, contacts, long sleeves, open-toed shoes, dangly jewlery, gum/food/drink, and must tie hair back!!!!
