      • Do you think that you would be interested in training to be able to help people this way? Explain why yes or no.
3. We then began taking notes on patient assessment-
4. Watch the videos below to see HOW a Patient Assessment works in action!!

The Human Body 11 Organ Systems

Friday, December 4, 2015

Friday Dec.4 & Monday Dec. 7, 2015

SCIENCE-

  • Warm-up----What is homeostasis? How does your body maintain it? Give 2 examples.
  • Today, we worked on a lab regarding the pulse. Click Here for a copy.  We started procedures 1-3.
  • HW- find the pulse of 3 people, record their name, bpm, and get a signature. DUE MONDAY, DEC. 7!! Link to HW-https://docs.google.com/a/ggl.summit.k12.co.us/document/d/1nO4HQDwMzC_QXcuo682XNzH3gA7s3Es9PDO7XZbVi78/edit?usp=sharing

  • Need HELP finding your pulse???
  • How to take your pulse

You can find your pulse in several places. Here are two of the easiest places to find it.
    • To find your pulse in your neckneck pulsePut three fingers of your left hand onto your Adam's apple in your throat (that's the bit that sticks out and goes up and down when you swallow.)

Feel gently to the side of it, and you will find your pulse beating (you can feel it going up and down).
    Or
    • To find your pulse in your wristHold your hand in front of you.

wrist pulseStick your thumb up in the air and turn the palm towards you.

With the first two fingers of your other hand, stroke from the top of your thumb down the side until your fingers reach your wrist.

Let your fingers slide downwards onto the inside of your wrist, and gently feel for your pulse.

When you have found a steady beat, count how many beats in 15 seconds (use a watch or clock with a second hand).

Times your score by 4, and that will tell you your pulse rate per minute.
