SCIENCE---
- WEDNESDAY---
- We reviewed continental drift, the theory put forth by Alfred Wegener, by going through a review doc in google classroom. Students then took a short quiz on continental drift on a google form!
- THURSDAY---
- We did a simulation showing the different ways tectonic plates move. This doc has been delivered in google classroom!!! It's called SPREADING PLATES!!
- FRIDAY---
- Students plotted EQ that have happened TODAY on a doc delivered in google classroom!!!

SCIENCE----
WEDNESDAY----
5. Watch the video below and write a definition for the Law of Superposition.
6. Watch the following videos to come up with definitions for RELATIVE AGE and ABSOLUTE AGE-
Set B
WEDNESDAY----
- Open the doc in google classroom called "Who's on First INTRO"
- Watch the following videos and write a definition for index fossil on your google doc.
- What are Fossils?- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rkGu0BItKM
3. Watch the following video and write a definition for sedimentary rock on your google doc.
- Sedimentary rock- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NygkD8uATng
4. Look at the two pictures below of the Grand Canyon.
- In your group, brainstorm ideas about which layers you think are the oldest. Explain your thoughts on your google doc under the label Grand Canyon.
5. Watch the video below and write a definition for the Law of Superposition.
6. Watch the following videos to come up with definitions for RELATIVE AGE and ABSOLUTE AGE-
- intro to geologic dating- http://study.com/academy/lesson/methods-of-geological-dating-numerical-and-relative-dating.html
- absolute age- http://www.sciencechannel.com/tv-shows/greatest-discoveries/videos/100-greatest-discoveries-radiometric-dating/
EXTRA-higher level if interested!!
- relative age vid-Mr. Kish- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiL8WCbhqmg
- Absolute age vid-Mr. Kish-VERY high level
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxEzF_TeUi4
- THURSDAY---
- Activity 1- Warm-up- we discussed the 6 vocabulary words from yesterday
- index fossil---fossil of an organism, that lived a relatively SHORT TIME, but found in many locations
- sedimentary rock---formed by sediment that is deposited over time, usually as layers at the bottom of lakes and oceans
- Grand Canyon- the oldest layer is on the bottom and the youngest layer is on the top
- Law of Superposition---stating that in any undisturbed sequence of rocks deposited in layers (sedimentary rock), the youngest layer is on top and the oldest on bottom
- relative age---a rock's age compared to the other rock's around it
- absolute age---the numerical (number) age of a rock since it formed
- Activity 2--- Who's on First
- this assignment was delivered to google classroom
- Students were working with the layering of fossils and the Law of Superposition.
- Set A (for part 1) and Set B (for part 2) cards are shown below.
- IF WE HAVE TIME!!- Activity 3- "Ice Age Death Trap"-PBS video
- Note sheet delivered in g classroom!
